The Diversity Cult.

The 2023 Irish action thriller, In the Land of Saints and Sinners, is one of those films that offers some insight into the machinations of our cultural overlords. It is one of those small budget adult dramas that does not get a ton of attention but does well on the streaming services after its initial release. It is not that these are bad films, but they are not expected to pack the theaters. These are the new version of the B-Movie that fill up the spaces between the heavily hyped, big budget films.

Anyway, the film is set in Ireland during the Troubles because every movie about Ireland is set during the Troubles. It stars Liam Neeson, who plays Finbar Murphy, a hired assassin who lives in a quiet coastal town. It is not all that clear who is assigning the hits, but they come through a local businessman who gets the assignments and hands them out to men like Finbar. This local businessman is not connected to the Troubles and makes sure to not get involved in politics.

The story arc for Finbar starts during his final assignment when the guy he is about to kill gives him some advice rather than beg for his life. Finbar’s habit is to grab his target off the street and take him out to the woods, where he makes the guy dig his own grave before shooting him with a shotgun. He then plants a tree on the grave. This target is a former contract killer, who urges Finbar to make something of the rest of his life before he ends up in the same place as him.

This leads Finbar to have a crisis of conscience and he decides to retire. Meanwhile, some IRA terrorists have come into town to hide out after having set off a bomb in Belfast that killed some children. They are staying with a relative who lives in the town and that relative just happens to have a run in with Finbar. Of course, Finbar solves the problem by taking the guy out to his favorite killing field. Thus, we have the central conflict of the film as the terrorists face off against Finbar.

This all sounds like the basis for a good old-fashioned thriller. You get some Irish history as a backdrop, and you get to see Liam Neeson use his “particular set of skills” to slowly take care of the bad guys. Neeson has been playing this role since he got super famous for doing it in the movie Taken. He is in his seventies now, but he still manages to make it work, just as long as he does not have to move around too much. In this film he is the wise old version of the lethal weapon.

Somewhere in the middle of the film, there is a black guy. Finbar is in a pub and there is a black guy playing Irish tunes on a fiddle. He is not a black leprechaun, but he is a short guy so that would have made some sense. Instead, he is a refugee from Africa who somehow settled into this tiny coastal town in rural Ireland. He tells Finbar that the reason he picked the town is he wanted to escape the violence of his home country and he once heard Irish music as a kid.

It gets more absurd. Later in the film there is the big show down between Finbar and the terrorists at the pub. The terrorists are shooting the place up and Finbar sees the sacred African hiding under a table, so he rushes over to save him. In other words, the wandering African is not just a ridiculous addition to a film set in 1970’s Ireland, he is now a sacred symbol of the film. In that scene you expect the people to scream, “leave the women and children but save our sacred African!”

Clearly, the quality control committee realized that their film did not have the required amount of diversity, so the script was sent back for a rewrite. The writers probably thought they were okay because they made the head terrorist a sassy girl boss with two thick headed male henchmen. That was not enough so they needed to figure out a way to add some color to story set in rural 1970’s Ireland and they settled on having a peripatetic African midget playing the fiddle in the pub.

We have all become used to the black washing and race swapping that goes on in the culture, but in a film like this you see how mechanical it has become. Somewhere in the process there is a crew of shrews and scolds who make sure there is a girls boss and the proper amount of color. They do not care if it makes any sense. Like people with rubber stamps in a bureaucracy, their job is to make sure the film has enough diversity points before it goes into production.

Eric Hoffer famously said, “What starts out here as a mass movement ends up as a racket, a cult, or a corporation.” In fact, it often becomes all three and you see it with the diversity rackets that now infest every institution. It is a lucrative racket for those who master the arcana, but it has been embedded in the economy. Like the green rackets, the diversity rackets are now part of the fabric of corporate life. It is assumed to be an essential part of every large enterprise.

The thing that holds it in place, however, is that it is a cult. There is little doubt that many of the people in that film thought it was stunning and brave that they had a little African guy skittering around the set. Those who thought it was a ridiculous addition to the film kept their head down because they did not want the lunatics from the cult of diversity hounding them over it. The result is we now have diversity everywhere when what we need is to have it nowhere.

  1. Sometimes the requirements for racial diversity becomes unintentional comedy. I remember watching Rocky Balboa in the theatres. There was a scene where Rocky encounters a woman who gave him a hard time in the original movie, and learns she’s a single mother. It panned to the kid, who is mulatto, and the audience groaned with laughter.

    • In my more optimistic moments, I like to think it’s intentional. Some closeted based writer gets the memo from DIE harridan for more diversity and thinks “I’ll give you diversity all right.”

  2. Funny how, for all the negrolatry in show business, they keep setting stories in white contexts. If it’s diversity you want, why not make a set of violent action films about Tutsis vs. Hutus? Lots of diversity there. I just can’t imagine why they wouldn’t. No sir. No idea.

    • There was a movie called The Woman King that did that. They ran into a little problem of trying to make the French the bad guys when they were trying to end the slave trade the protagonist of the movie was deeply involved in..

  3. They should have cast a tall mulatto as Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy) who just happens to be in town. I think he was literally the only diversity in 70’s Ireland.

    • Well, at least there was one…In the Cohen Bros “MacBeth”, 10th century Scotland is crawling with black men, women and children…In a place where, in fact, no African had ever been seen or even heard of….

      • Even one of the silly Robin Hood movies cast a black man as a Moor who returned to England with friends for reasons. At least they recognized that they needed to make up an excuse.

        • The Kevin Costner one. I actually didn’t have a problem with that, or the believability wasn’t doing extrasolar gymnastics to make it work. Missionary types are a weird strain to begin with and end up all over the damn place.

  4. I was in the diversity racket for 27 years, education. My favorite line to the DEI crowd was diversity and equity in the same sentence was an oxymoron, we’re in education, can’t we see that? Needless to say, quickly brushed aside!

  5. It gets more serious when it shows up in daily life. I have encounters with Africans all the time now. I thought I was moving to a whitetopia three years ago but no. At one time the population of this state was about 3% black iirc and that was in one tiny area in Denver but now the latest I heard it’s about 10% and they’re everywhere. They’re moving in from out of state because this state is a mirror of the upper Midwestern “nice” culture. They figure it’s gibs for the taking. I won’t go into the details of… Read more »

  6. Although cinema has always been propaganda, many good movies were made throughout the 20th century. Even as late as the 1990s, it was still possible to find films where the propaganda was veiled enough that it didn’t ruin my enjoyment of the film. Around 2005, however, films started becoming unwatchable because of the diversity and girl boss stuff, and it has only gotten worse since then. Some of it is because the audience has gotten dumber, so the propaganda has to be less subtle so the audience understands what they’re supposed to believe. The main reason, however, is the increasing… Read more »

    • The propaganda is now so bad it almost doesn’t qualify as propaganda. I saw a banner ad for a new slice of Disney dreck called “The Young Woman and The Sea.” The key art is a headshot of that carny trash female Luke Skywalker, but wearing swimming goggles as she looks out over the stormy ocean. So we need no further information to get the message. Piss on the work of an old white man, Hemingway: check. Turn main character into stronk fierce girlboss: check. Moral of story, girlboss is so tough she can defeat the power of an entire… Read more »

    • I howled with laughter and snorted derisively through watching the black version of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. The above commenter has it right though, if it were all black no one would watch it, and at this point, if there is any hint of diversity, I simply don’t watch, I have enough books and heritage DVD’s (The ones that were released way back when before POC being to be reinserted into current releases.)

  7. since my wife and I can’t stomach anything new, we watch old shows, mostly documentaries. We’ve been watching the Sopranos since I never really watched it when it came out 25 years ago. What’s interesting is how you can clearly see that the culture back then is like a foreign planet. We find ourselves pausing the show and remarking to each other how we can’t believe they still allow people to watch it. So many stereotypes that we all know to be true are present. There was one scene where Tony explains to his daughter that it’s a fact that… Read more »

    • Even better is the scene when Tony’s daughter has a half-black, half-Jewish boy from college over to the house. When he gets a moment alone with the twerp, Tony lets him know that his black associates don’t want his son with their daughters and he doesn’t want their sons with his daughter.

Every normal father watching that scene nods along knowingly.

  8. The next recession is going to last a long time. One reason why is that there will be (already is) too much dieversity in corporate AINO for there to be enough competency to dig out of it. And it will not be permitted, or even thinkable to most people, to point to it as the problem. So it will go on and on. As the recession continues, more dieversity will be hired, more Whites retired. Snowballing on itself. As a poster here said the other day, when you go brown, you stay down.

  9. Would the “entertainment” industry have gone tits up even without DIE? I think so. DIE is more a symptom than a cause in this narrow instance. The same idiocy that propels ham-handed DIE would not allow for intelligent or at least entertaining content. Before DIE started to do its damage, big budget films started to be remakes, sequels and reimaginations of old television series. The stupidity predates DIE, which may be its apex but is a predictable endpoint of a trend. The colorized and blackwashed vapidity simply imposes the zeitgeist on a failing and retarded industry.

    • The replacement of human actors by computer generated ones is going to hit a snag when they realize it means putting the dieversity out of work. Maybe only the white villains will be computer generated, and the protagonists actual flesh and blood negros.

  10. Recently, as I was walking on a street in a small rural town in a very remote part of Europe, I noticed a large poster in the window of the local pharmacy. It featured a white woman and a simian looking black guy with vitiligo all over his face. I though to myself that whoever created this poster wallows in ugliness. Then I looked away as I continued my walk and realized that the street is full of Indian males.

  11. The whole thing has been stood on its head. Elvis, The Beatles and the Stones reinterpreted (with commercial and artistic success) black culture for white audiences. Whites were inhabiting black space because blacks had cultural creations worth imitating in those days. Chet Baker, Stan Getz and Bossa Nova followed a similar path in Jazz.

Today, black culture has degenerated to the point wherein it has stopped creating any culture whatsoever. So they can either intrude on White cultural space or be invisible. Sports is the obvious exception.
