Integral to the managerial polyarchy is the narrative. This is the semi-official story for how the managerial elite believes events ought to unfold. The narrative promotes some cause or issue popular with the elite or it can simply work to promote solidarity in the managerial class by underscoring the difference between the members of the managerial class and the masses. The narrative not only frames reality, but often it is expected to shape reality by altering behavior.
The Ukraine war has provided good examples. When the war started, regime media figures were decorated with Ukraine flag lapel pins and instructed to say “keev” rather than Kiev, which everyone used up to that point. The official narrative was that Ukraine was the good guys and Russia the bad guys. For no reason at all, the evil Vladimir Putin decided to launch an attack on Ukraine. Soon, the volunteer army of regime toadies online was chanting the official lines.
The concept of “no reason at all” is a standard feature of regime narratives that are primarily about establishing a moral dichotomy. The bad guys are always described as acting irrationally and without a describable reason. The good guys being good are always acting from the best and most easily understood motives. Vladimir Putin is “crazy Ivan” capable of anything, while Zelensky is the heroic defender of democracy who only wants to defend his country.
It is an interesting inversion of cult behavior. To members of a cult, the rules of the cult are perfectly rational. The appeal of the cult is it provides clarity to the members who struggle with a disorganized mind. The member find herself surrounded by people who see things through the same lens. On the other hand, to those outside the cult, what happens inside the cult is strange and counter to objective reality. It is why cults have a negative connotation. They appear irrational.
The managerial class looks at the masses as a cult. The people who vote for the wrong candidate in elections are not acting from rational self-interest. They are not even acting from subjective preference. They are irrationally lashing out out of fear and anger for no reason at all! The role of the managerial class in the great narrative of life is to impose their rules on these people. Those wreckers and deviationists are cast into a role that supports the narrative.
We see this with the holiday of Juneteenth. If you lived in some parts of the South, you may have known about this event prior to now. Most black people did not celebrate the holiday, contrary to the current narrative. In fact, most black people heard about it when most white people heard about it a few years ago. As part of the ongoing pogroms against white people, the managerial elite decided to take this obscure regional event and turn it into a national holiday.
Of course, this holiday is part of a narrative that has been central to the managerial class since the middle of the last century. The great struggle is one of the main plot lines in the story that justifies the existence of the managerial elite. The struggle is against those backward, recalcitrant bad white people who tirelessly work to turn back the clock and overturn progress. As Joe Biden likes to say, those bad whites want to put black people back in chains.
Essential to the success of any narrative, according to managerial culture, is control of the means of cultural production. They have a materialist’s view of culture as a product that comes from the television or the internet, rather than the result of human interactions over a long span of time. They think they can use the media to flood the public space with their narratives. That will change the behavior of the masses as people will assume the narratives are true.
This has the side effect of reinforcing to the managerial class that their current narratives are not only factually correct, more morally correct. Afterall, everything they read in the media tells them that they are on the side of angels. Right now, they are sure that black people around the country are gathering to celebrate their Independence Day with public readings of the Emancipation Proclamation. Maybe they cap off the day by singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing”.
Reality is probably closer to this, but that does not make this weekend any different from most weekends in the summer. In heavily black cities crime remains an immutable fact of life, no matter how many black holidays are created. Maybe if the energy put into these antiwhite pogroms was directed toward cleaning up the inner-city ghettos, more black people would live to see the absurdity of Juneteenth, but no one in charge cares about black people, so the point is moot.
It does, however, point to the limits of narrative control. They can bang on about Juneteenth as much as they like but it will remain an artificial holiday that most people ignore unless they work at a bank or the Post Office. Then they get a three-day weekend to enjoy while their neighbors are at work. Martin Luther King Day has fallen into the same pattern. No amount of narrative framing will change the fact that for most people it is a meaningless day on the calendar.
There is a parallel here to Kwanzaa. This was invented as black Christmas in the 1960’s and promoted by the beautiful people as an authentic black event. It was mostly a joke, even among black people. The lesson of that experience was to make Martin Luther King Day a federal holiday. That did not quite work, but you cannot roll back a federal holiday, so it was good enough. That is why they skipped the marketing campaign and went straight to the federal holiday for Juneteenth.
The limits of the narrative tool may explain the panic and paranoia that have become a defining feature of the managerial class. Enormous effort was put into making Martin Luther King Day into black Christmas and it largely fizzled. This effort to make Juneteenth into black Independence Day is following the same arc. If you cannot convince people to celebrate a free day off according to the narrative, then it does not bode well for other projects.

While the day is young, my favorite Juneteenth-related thing so far isn’t the mass vibrant shooting per se but a story MSN linked about a black holiday ending in “y.” The one photo was of a white guy, and the caption described him as a witness. No shots of perps or victims was published. The implication, of course, is this was a white thing that involved guns and move on.
Absurdities like Juneteenth are helping facilitate tuning out and/or laughing at ;TBTB. The managerial class would like to use the day to club whites, of course, but not enough of them (or blacks for that matter) take it seriously enough to care.
Finally, let us recall how Juneteenth became a national holiday. In the midst of the state-sponsored Floyd terrorism, Republican senators sought to deal with the crimes by promoting Juneteenth as a holiday. The almost-reliable Sen. Ron Johnson even offered to replace Columbus Day with it.
That’s almost perfect encapsulation of the zeitgeist.

Also, the Juneteenth mass vibrant shooting has to be seen as of a piece with the water system story in Jackson, Mississippi, and the NAACP’s call for blacks to boycott Florida. There were lame attempts to spin the Jackson story as “racism” but the realities made that impossible so it was spiked. This sentiment has been around for many decades. In the 1957 movie A Face in the Crowd, there’s a scene of a negress on TV endorsing demagogic politician Lonesome Rhodes (Andy Griffith), with a black family watching the endorsement and saying, with surprise, “It’s about time.” Meaning, it’s time for negroes to be on television. My point to my friend was to stop celebrating losing. I understand the mentality of the blacks who don’t care about history. They care about revenge and about getting what they want by as Malcom X said himself, any means necessary.

Agreed Z, but save for the fact Willowbrook, IL is not heavily populated by A Certain Demographic, you are correct. It is in DuPage County, over 20 miles from Chiraq and Crook County. If you believe the US Census, it’s a town of < 5% of A Certain Demographic. Sadly that 5%, and they friends from Da City, caused this.

The average black is very far removed from whatever the “white man” is thinking up in Washington. If Juneteenth was a “real” holiday like Black Spring Break, the brothers would be celebrating it like crazy. Since Juneteenth is not keeping it real though, nobody in the community cares. Washington can’t do anything about it.
Juneteenth is another annoyance for the average white person. It’s a white guilt holiday that will be pushed on us at work and by the government, and we are supposed to feel bad. And by feeling bad, the cat ladies feel pious and righteous.
Outside the managerial class, African Americans just continue to African American, the same way whites continue to white. For good and for bad. This is becoming apparent as the rulers become increasingly nutty and disconnected from reality.

“Ebonics” was widely mocked when it was of pseudo-academic interest in the 1970s…even by blacks who rightly saw it as a tacit admission that maybe the Civil Rights Act that upended and reordered society wasn’t working, and maybe never could.
Now everyone has to pretend “Juneteenth” is something grand, not a bastardizing of basic English from illiterate and innumerate freed slaves from hundreds of years ago.

Eubonics was the turning point in action and thinking wrt Blacks and equality. Prior to that point, the narrative was that Blacks were the equal of Whites, just a bit behind due to prior discrimination which could be solved with a bit of time, patience, and effort on the part of Whites. Hell, even LBJ said this in an address to the nation wrt Civil Rights legislation a decade earlier.
Eubonics was a tacit admission of failure and rejection of this narrative. It was the start of a movement to lower standards to meet Black abilities, rather than raise Black abilities to that of Whites. True, there were howls of derision from many Whites and the Black “talented tenth”, but they did not prevail over “observable reality”.
Prior to the Eubonics “movement”, AA was still innocent in effect and consider part of the movement to “raise” Blacks to White standards. Afterwards, AA became corrupted and associated with lowering standards for all aspects of Black “advancement”. And here we are today.

And this is also where postmodern relativism enters the picture. If there are no objective standards of cultural and intellectual achievement, it is entirely logical to argue that substandard English is actually a valid expression of a different but equal culture. Ebonics is not inferior, it is Other. To deny this is racist.

The NAACP has recently warned blacks to not travel to Florida. They did the same to Missouri a few years back. As a resident of Florida for twenty years, I urge blacks to heed the advice. This backward state must have never heard the South lost. It’s like Jim Crow never was repealed. Civil Rights Act? Never heard of it! I find it amazing that there isn’t “strange fruit” hanging from every tree, to quote the ominous old 1939 Billie Holliday blues song. Frankly, I find it amazing that our population is nearly 16% black, slightly more than the national average. Why those folk haven’t high-tailed it to safer places like Detroit, Chicago, Jackson or Baltimore, I can’t fathom. Now, I know that tourism is one of our biggest money makers and we’ll take a hit if you don’t come. As alluring as a vacation here might seem, your lives are far more imporant than seeing The Mouse or drinking a “40” at the beach while you’re checking out the white pussy. Keep your black asses at home, where at least you’ll be alive.

I was an anesthesiology resident at Emory in the early to mid-90’s. One night during Freaknik I was on call on Saturday. It was an endless litany of trauma….mostly stabbings. Even through all of it, we had an African-American nurse who kept repeating “these young people are not causing these problems. This is coming from the outside”. Which I took to mean it was White people agitating and causing these attacks, However, seeing as you didn’t see a single white person within a 15 mile radius of Piedmont Park/Ponce de leon, I found very suspect.

Black Spring Break moved to the home of my in-laws and it was non-stop twerking by gigantic well-fed women, ragged-out cars with suspension lifts and absurd 40-inch rims (called donks), endless boom-boom-boom of jungle music and even some gunplay!

We can end Juneteenth by trolling the hell out of it. I think we only paid off the Civil War debt a few years ago. In any case, that it works as a white shaming device at all is a testament to how badly broken our education and cultural transmission mechanisms are.

I’m not so sure Juneteenth doesn’t have legs; Pride Month is getting an increasing grip on the masses. In one of my rare trips outside the routine of work to home to work, I was in the bank and they had a fruit flag on the monitor and the bank teller was wearing a rainbow pin. The lady at the card store was wearing a rainbow pin. The PBS classical channel had a pride segment for a lesbian composer to rant about her pride in overcoming discrimination. And so on.
And even MLK day has impacted my life: The last two years I have celebrated black culture on MLK day by calling in sick to work. I may make Juneteenth another occasion where the white man boycotts societally productive activity.

Imagine being of a race where all your celebrations revolve around what another race did to you? Humiliating would not begin to describe it.
It would be better for them as a race if they celebrated some black who actually helped them forge their own destiny instead of insisting on gibs.
