Fifty years ago, people just accepted the fact that there were people walking around with nutty ideas in their head. You could easily avoid them, and you could trust that the “marketplace of ideas” would police the problem. Most people would recognize that this guy is a nut and ignore him. The small number of people who fell for things like conspiracy theories or libertarianism was small.

That is no longer true. It seems that the “marketplace of ideas” has been flooded with crackpots, many of them sporting credentials. Everywhere you go you feel the need to be on guard against the loonies ululating about the latest thing. In social settings everyone has to look over their shoulder before speaking, for fear that stating obvious truths will set of a firestorm of mental illness.

Of course, much of this is due to the digital age. It is much easier for the crazies to find you and inflict their craziness on you. The Gaia worshippers, who have always existed in one form or another, are everywhere now. Even mundane things give them a reason to start hooting about Gaia. There is no escaping the misinformed and the deranged because they have flooded the digital zone.

It is an interesting dilemma. The managerial elite is not wrong to worry about the tsunami of nonsense that has swept society. You cannot have any sort of self-governance when most people are misinformed. It is not even clear you can have an authoritarian society when most people are misinformed. How can you organize society when most people believe in nonsense?

A lament among people on this side of the great divide is that Western societies have become atomized and deracinated. That would be preferable to a world of misinformed people networked to the rest of us via technology. Imagine if the Gaia worshippers all suddenly lost their internet connection for a year. The world would suddenly become quieter and vastly more sober minded.

It is not just people who are sincerely misinformed. Spend time on social media and it quickly becomes obvious that there are people who take some pleasure in minting false information and passing it onto others. In an age when information is king, these people should probably be killed. They are the coin clippers of the digital age and should be treated as such. Death to the misinformers!

Of course, that would require a ruling class that is not chock full of misinformed and deranged people, which is obviously not the case. In fact, they may be the most deranged of all. Their efforts to combat “misinformation and disinformation” are only lowering trust in all information. What is needed is an informed will to power that will replace the ruling class with an informed one.

Watching the tunneling Hebrews scurrying out of their warrens the other day, my first thought was why did the government let these people into the country. The original cult members came over during the war, so maybe no one noticed, but since then they keep coming and there is no excuse for not noticing the weirdness. No offense to these people, but we have our own weirdos. We are full up.

Of course, no one is allowed to notice such things or notice anything about people unless it furthers the goal of eliminating “who” from our reality. We can notice blacks in the context of them being the victims of whiteness and we can notice whites as oppressors, but this in furtherance of dismantling the “how” of things so that these identities are no longer a part of contextual reality.

Otherwise, talking about who is doing anything is increasingly off limits, to the point where police sketches will soon be stick figures. Most normies looked away from the images of those Jewish guys crawling out of the sewer grates because the only way to understand it was to think about who these people are what makes them so different from what we consider normal in America.

This aversion to who and the preference for how is not new. This is part of the Western intellectual tradition and is now reaching a peak. Transgenderism is the logical endpoint of universalism, which strips the who from the moral debate. If anyone can be inside the Western moral framework, then people no longer have fixed identities. If a man can be anything he wants, then logically he can even be a girl.

From time to time, I have mentioned that when it comes to politics, most people use their stupid brain rather than their everyday brain. You see it with the Harvard case where conservatives are celebrating over the ouster of the plagiarizing president, as if this will make any difference to them. Harvard will just replace one antiwhite bigot with another antiwhite bigot, probably one even more nasty than Gay.

It is not that conservatives are stupid, although many of them are quite stupid, it is that they slip into political brain when they look at this issue, rather than use their normal brain that they use everywhere else in their life. Even the people protesting pornography in the schools figured out that it was not just the books, it was the people on the school board that was the problem.

Dissidents like to quote Carl Schmitt about politics being about friends and enemies, but in many respects, this is bad for dissidents. Inside conventional politics it is fine to play Cowboys and Indians, but for dissidents this is a danger. It is how weirdos and lunatics turn up in the ranks and how otherwise useless people make themselves into influencers until they are revealed to be nuts.

That is the show this week. It is about cases where we should put aside our pollical brain and use our normal brain to avoid problems. The final show of the year is a scramble of topics that turned up in the e-mail either by nature or upon request. There were others that were either not interesting to me, or they were of a more personal nature. I do not want to go down the road of offering advice to people, so I tend to avoid those topics. There is never an upside to giving advice, especially personal advice, so it is best to avoid it.

The one topic I could have gone on longer about is the Covid stuff, which I have not done in a long time. It is a good example of how the media’s real power is the power to ignore a subject or person. They flipped the switch on Covid and slowly people just forgot about the whole thing. The only people who want to talk about it are the people who were right about it or have a complaint about it.

This is especially powerful when the regime makes an error. The vaccine stuff was a terrible blunder, but the media ignore it, so it does not get discussed. Poor Ron DeSantis thought Covid would be a great card to play, but in these debates, he never gets asked about it and he has stopped mentioning it. That means if Trump remains on the ballot for 2024, he will not be asked about his role in the fiasco.

The thing is the media does not do this consciously. They exist in a small, isolated world unaware of the outer world. What is important to them is assumed to be important to everyone and vice versa. Once Covid stopped being a big deal to them, the dogs barked, and the media caravan moved on. We are seeing the same thing with Biden impeachment, which is of no interest to them at the moment.

An amusing example is the Cobra holding a town hall meeting moderated by a carny on CNN the other day. The carny demanded proof that the FBI was involved in January 6, as if this was a crazy suggestion. The carny was unaware of the mountain of stories about the FBI role in the event, because in her world there is only one version of that day, and no one ever thinks to question it.

That is what will make the Ukraine story interesting in 2024. Few in the media are aware of what has really been happening. That means over the next six months they will have to be brought up to speed by the few people who have some clue and will be allowed to talk about reality. It will be like seeing a colony of mole people see the sunshine for the first time. Good times will be had by all.

In the penultimate show of the year, I decided to go with a Trump theme, since the orange shadow of death is slowly creepy across the lands. The debate the other night took place in the orange shadow, as the only reason the event took place is the looming disqualification of Trump by the regime. The regime toadies can feel it coming and they are getting ready for the madness that lies ahead.

As I pointed out after the debate, a big reason why things are getting so squirrely is the people in charge are shockingly stupid. Within living memory, the party rulers would have made sure a dunce like Nikki Haley remained down on the farm. She probably never would have made it past state rep. In the land of two-digit simpletons, a lantern-jawed Karen rises to the top of the political heap.

It is the declining competence that is the primary cause of the unrest. Savvy rulers would understand that they always have two primary challenges. One is the palace coup, and the other is the peasant revolt. The former is an internal matter, but the latter is the one that keeps them in power. Always appear to be on the right side of the majority and the peasants will tolerate just about anything.

This crew has everything backwards. They have made their intrigues the focus of our politics and they fight one another to see who is the most spiteful and nasty to the common people. War Karen exists because the Mortimer and Randolph sponsoring her think it is hilarious that she makes the rubes vomit in their mouths. Imagine what they have planned for the coming election.

Before I forget, for the final show of the year I might want to do another twenty questions style show, as people seemed to like it. In years past, whenever I have put out the call for questions, there would be questions about specific people in politics and questions about a particular question. This time there were no such questions. The former questions have gone away along with the drama, which was a defining feature of outsider politics. The days of various e-celebs warring with one another seem to have passed.

The other question has also changed. You see it with the reaction to the Israel – Gaza cheerleading from conservatives. Ten years ago, the only negative responses to Shapiro or Pollack would have been the old school JQ stuff. These days it is much more nuanced and matter of fact. A large swath of people seem to have internalized many of these arguments into a casual acceptance of ethnic reality.

I did not get a single Ukraine question. A good question is how the general public will respond when the inevitable happens in Ukraine in 2024. The war is not on anyone’s list of concerns at the moment, not even for those on this side of the divide. Will that change when things fall apart next year? Team Biden never recovered from the Afghanistan debacle, even though it had been off the radar for years.

It is a small sample size, but it got me thinking that much of the action on this side of the divide has moved away from practical politics to thinking about the systemic and philosophic issues at the heart of the current crisis. The number of people who have quietly thrown in the towel on conventional politics continues to rise. If there is no solution at the ballot box, what is the point of talking about it?

Trump is gearing up for his 2024 campaign and you can sense that it is going to be very different from 2016 because the people are different. Relative to many people in the crowd, Trump will sound like a calming voice, rather than the sarcastic bomb thrower scandalizing the squares in Washington. Trump is now a moderate voice, a compromise for the ruling class to buy some time.

The topic of the show this week is something I touch on from time to time in writing but only rarely in the podcast. That is the dilemma Christians face when engaging in dissident politics or politics in general. They have been boxed in to a great degree by the egalitarians on the issue of nationalism. It is hard to be a nationalist of any sort if you start from the premise that all men are equal before God.

Many anti-Christians in dissident politics, and there are many of them, zero in on this issue as a disqualifier. They point to the many Christian pastors who promote multiracial and multicultural themes. These holy men turn Christianity into a weapon in service of nation wrecking liberal projects. From an outsider’s perspective, it does seem like Christianity is another tentacle of the liberal kraken.

It does not have to be that way. Through the 18th century, Christians were quite chauvinistic about their national identity. It was also assumed that the people who lived outside of Christendom should remain outside of Christendom, even if missionaries managed to convert them. Even Abraham Lincoln and the abolitionists were skeptical about the races getting along in one society.

That is the show this week. Not my best effort as I had no prep time because I am traveling this week. I did not like how the show came out, but I had no time to redo it so I will come back to this at another time. It also touches in other philosophical topics that I plan to write about in the future. As I note in the show, a lot of important things were forgotten in the 19th century.

The selection of a complete nobody to be the Speaker of the House is a good way to understand how things actually work in our system. Most people still think their vote matters in terms of who occupies elected office and how they go about their jobs, but the rise of Mike Johnson shows that to be false. You voting has little bearing on the way the pollical system functions.

Look at Johnson’s career and you see how the system selects for and against types of people at the lowest levels of politics. If one day you want to be in Congress, it means starting in politics at a young age and subjecting yourself to a lengthy filtering process to make sure you are going to fit and support the system. Our democracy selects for conformity and strongly selects against curiosity.

This also explains why the political class has such a strong contempt for the people the system is supposed to represent. As a practical matter, only about ten percent of elected officials are subject to the voters. The rest occupy safe seats that are controlled by the party. That means your success as an office holder depends on making the party and its underwriters happy. The voters are an annoying distraction.

Elected officials and the vast army of supporting players feel compelled to play along with the charade of democracy, but at some level even the dullest of the bunch understand it is all a pointless performance. It is that conflict between the reality of politics and the need to pretend otherwise that leads to frustration. If the voters would just agree with everything, life would be so simple in Washington.

That is why a guy like Mike Johnson gets selected. So far, he has demonstrated an ability to convince the rubes back home that the system works. He also brings the multi-billion-dollar Christian Inc. operation with him, which will make sure to bribe any potential detractors in the caucus. That way the system can go back to doing what it is designed to do, which is to serve the interests of the economic elites.

The relatively recent obsession by our rulers over misinformation and disinformation is not without merit. The ruling class of every democratic political order must concern itself with what their subjects think because the logic of the system says the subjects should act on what they think is true. Even with their limited power in the political process, they can create a lot of trouble if they think the wrong things.

Compounding it is the fact that managerialism encourages lying. As everyone who has worked in a large company knows, the primary goal of managers is to shift the blame and appropriate the credit. In good times, they talk about themselves as leaders, while in bad times they are the victims. Managers love committees and meetings as it furthers the two goals of blame shifting and credit appropriation.

This may also explain the obsession with narrative. People under investigation by the police have the habit of creating stories to explain their innocence, on the assumption that if it is a good story the cops will accept it. This is why cops are trained to poke holes in the story as a way to break the suspect. Our rulers seem to operate from the same mindset and always communicate in narratives.

Like the guilty, who come to believe their own stories about their innocence, our rulers come to believe their own version of things, even future things. When you combine the extreme paranoia about what everyone believes with their ideological desires, the result is a managerial culture in which narrative crowds out reality. Anything that contradicts the narrative is a threat to themselves and their sense of reality.

While on a walk, I was listening to Jared Taylor interview a fellow calling himself Ed Brodow about his book, The War on Whites: How Hating White People Became the New National Sport. Given the title and the platform, I was expecting the author to have similar views on race as other people in that scene. Instead, he sounded more like a civic nationalist or a typical conservative.

It was a fascinating conversation as the author would layout a bunch of facts you would get from the race realist camp, but then try to fit them into the conventional moral framework with regards to race. At the same time, Jared was trying to lead him back to the obvious conclusion of the facts the man has in his book. It was an interesting back and forth that is well worth a listen.

It was also a great example of of the power of moral authority. Jared Taylor rejects the moral claims about race that come from the race denialists, while the author of the book accepts most of those moral claims. It was a clash of moral visions that highlights a central problem with regards to race. One side has a different view of right and wrong regard race than the other side of the conversation.

This is not unusual. When it comes to a wide range of issues, most opinions are guided by a moral framework that few people consider. Everyone accepts, for example, that racism is a universal moral concept. Everyone knows it is wrong to notice race, unless you are of the elect and you are noticing that someone not of the elect is noticing something about race. Then and only then is noticing race okay.

The truth is, noticing race was normal until the middle of the last century and the normative claims about racism we take for granted today would have been unknowable to people a century ago. This new moral framework, however, does not rest on a legitimate moral foundation. It was conjured from the ether and great effort is made to conceal its lack of moral authority.
