Pandemic

I penetrated the infection zone at 0900. For several miles I expected guards or maybe a traffic jam, but instead the road was clear with no signs of activity. In fact, I was not even sure I was in the infected zone until I started to see the abandoned cars. Some of the cars had been set on fire for some reason. It was more abandoned cars and then I started to see the bodies. At first it was a body slumped over in a car. Then it was a corpse in the road and then too many to count.

The road became impassable near what used to be an old roadside stop. A set of stores on one side and a gas station on the other. I stopped and got out of the car to look around. I spotted a big fellow, with blond hair sitting against a wall. He was shirtless and looked like he had been in a fight. He was holding a dove or pigeon. I’m not good with birds, but it was white and the size of a pigeon. Looking around, he appeared to be the only living thing, so I approached him and asked him what had happened.

He looked at me and asked if I liked fries with mayonnaise. It was a bizarre question, but I am familiar with the Dutch, so I understood his meaning straight away. In his final moments, he was thinking of futures past.  After some back and forth, he said to me, “I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.”

Ah, what might have been. My trip to Old Blighty was scuttled by the Chinese plague, so instead of doing travelogues this weekend, it is an impromptu podcast. I did not have a lot of time to put it together, so it is a little ragged. I figured since I was not going to be on the road, I had no excuse for skipping this week. It’s weird, but it bugs me when I skip a week for some reason. I feel like I’m shirking my responsibilities. A man should stick to his commitments, no matter how trivial.

Along the same lines, I feel bad for having to cancel the trip. I was looking forward to seeing Mark and his folks. He is one of the better speakers and organizers on this side of the great divide. It’s always a pleasure to see him work. But, I think I made the right call by staying home. This virus is serious and we need to do what we can to limit our social interactions for the time being. Even if the alarmist are half right, we have a very serious public health crisis on our hands.

There’s also the fact that in stressful times, reasonable people need to be reasonable and level headed. I have people counting on me to do the right thing, so setting a good example is important. If everywhere we look the sober minded are taking precautions against infection, the less sober minded will be inclined to follow. If you always assume you are an example to at least one other person in this world, you are always reminded to set a good example.

There’s also the practical issues. It’s pretty clear that the UK government is less prepared for this than the US government. By Sunday Boris Johnson could be locking down the country. We are not only into uncharted territory in terms of the virus, but we have no idea what our ruling class idiots are going to do. All we know at this point is they don’t know what to do. I’m much more concerned about that than the plague, for the simple reason I trust the plague more than our rulers.

That really is the main issue at the moment. In good times, you can have idiots and girts in positions of authority. The last time we had a serious crisis, there were serious men in government, who knew what to do. Whatever you may think about the massive bailout of the banks during the mortgage crisis, it prevented a collapse. This time, I fear we don’t have serious men in the room. We may be about to learn why it is a bad idea to stock government with entertaining nitwits.

The State Of Play

I was feeling pretty good about the AFPAC event last weekend, so this week I wanted to do some stuff related to it. My original thought was to open with a segment talking about the event itself, but one thing led to another and it evolved into an overall theme for the show this week. I found myself with more material than I could cover. Taking a step back and assessing things is probably a good idea in everything, but in politics it is highly useful in maintaining a proper perspective on things.

When I finished up the show, I put on Tucker Carlson to see what he was saying about things and he did a bit on Lizzy Warren. It fit right in with the final segment of the show this week. I disagree with Carlson’s assertion that identity politics was the cause of Warren’s madness. That’s just red meat for his Boomer audience. I think the better answer is that Warren was probably always insane. It’s just that the structures around her prevented it from expressing itself in public.

What’s happening to our world, I suspect, is something Joseph Tainter observed about societal collapse. That is, one ingredient essential to collapse is the lack of a surrounding set of societies that are connected to the failing one. For a failing society, the surrounding stable societies operate as a support structure, either slowing the decline or preventing it from reaching a critical point. The stable societies have an interest in preventing collapse, so they act to mitigate it.

Something may be at play with radical female empowerment. A century ago, when society was run by men, indulging female empowerment was a luxury good, like having ice cream in the summer or a drink after dinner. Over time, as the male power structure faltered and atrophied, female empowerment expanded to fill the void. Because it was inherently unstable and antithetical to orderly society, the overall society became less stable, more chaotic. Our world got more hysterical.

In the example of Elizabeth Warren, we see this in miniature. For most of her life, the necessity of career and social pressure kept her within a narrow path. She could decorate her office with dream catchers, pretending to be an Indian, but she had to follow the rules in order to maintain her position. On the campaign trail, she suddenly found herself free to express all of her thoughts. The result was demanding that transgender children riding unicorns select cabinet members.

What we are seeing, I think, is a madness spreading across the ruling class that is closely following the final feminization of it. If Elizabeth Warren had not lost her marbles on the campaign trail, the party would not be in the position to back a dementia patient for the nomination. Just let that sink in for a moment. The inner party is prepared to install a dementia patient in the White House as their best option. That is prima facie evidence that the political class has descended into madness.

The thing is, this virus spreading around the world could very well be the crisis that requires a competent and assertive ruling class. Tough decisions will need to be made in order to prevent a catastrophe. can we realistically count on the people around Dementia Joe to make those decisions? For that matter, can we count on Trump to provide sober minded leadership and assurance in a crisis? Covid-19 could very well be the modern equivalent of the Mongol Invasion.

The Yellow Peril

Most of you are probably listening to this week’s show while laying-in stocks of emergency foodstuffs and ammunition, in preparation for the riots that will surely come from the Chinese Flu. Make sure to have a thirty day supply of water, as you cannot go more than a few days without drinking water. If the media is right and this plague is retribution from the gods for voting Trump into office, the suffering will surely last more than a few days. Welcome to the end times.

In all seriousness, this flu is a serious matter, but the most likely result is something far short of the promised apocalypse. The Spanish Flu, which hit during the Great War, did not end the human race or put much of a dent in it. This virus is not that and we are better prepared for it than a century ago. The most likely result of this pandemic is a mild recession and a discrediting of the globalist project. Open borders and outsourcing to China is looking a lot less wonderful all of a sudden.

That will be the interesting thing to watch over the next months as this virus becomes a part of daily life. So far, the Democrat candidates have yet to figure out how to talk about, other than the puerile whining about “Orange Man Bad” stuff. Trump seems to be figuring out that this is offering him an issue, but he has yet to seize on it. He hinted at it in his presser, when he said his decision to shutter travel from China may have prevented the rapid spread of the virus to America.

Some politicians have started to figure out that this thing can be a club to assault the China lobby in Washington. Josh Hawley has a bill to redirect the production of medical supplies from China back to the United States. A general re-thinking of reliance on China for manufactured goods is probably the first result of this plague. Someone will eventually link the free movement of people over the southern border to the free movement of disease over the southern border.

The thing to watch, I think, is what happens when it becomes clear to everyone that the disease is the product of Chinese corruption. There’s pretty good evidence now that the virus originated in the lab. Most likely they were doing perfectly legitimate research on these viruses, but the endemic corruption of China and their sloppy controls led to this virus getting loose on the public. Throw in other issues like fentanyl, espionage and corruption and China should quickly become a pariah.

This pandemic is probably going to be what the rage head Nicholas Taleb called a black swan event. There will be what passed for conventional wisdom before the event and what passes for it after the event. In the before times, there was a general consensus that China was largely a benign force in the world. After the pandemic, China will be viewed as a threat to global order. We have probably just seen the end of peak China and the world enters the phase of post-China.

On the other hand, one should not underestimate the stupidity and perfidy of the ruling classes in the West. An alien greed-head like Mike Bloomberg, for example, does not care how many Americans die in order to keep doing business with China. Those are not his people. The actors hired by the plutocrats to be our politicians could very well keep reading from the same pro-China script. In this regard, the Yellow Peril could prove to be a clarifying event for many Americans.

Africa And The World

Feeling a little worldly this week. I have been finishing up travel plans for the spring hater’s season, so I have been thinking about the world quite a bit. People noticed that the candidates did not field any questions about foreign affairs in the Democrat debate this week. That was supposed to mean something, but the truth is Americans have lost interest in the world under Trump. That’s not a terrible thing, as we have plenty of problems to deal with in our own backyard.

Still, it is important to keep up with what is going on in the world, especially in the provinces, where there are some good lessons for dissidents. The Europeans have been doing right-wing populism and nationalism for a long time, so they are better at it than we are in the States. That’s because they have been dealing with left-wing terrorism for a lot longer too. They had to contend with groups like Antifa long before they became an issue for Americans.

Of course, as the center of the Empire, the problems of the world will always end up at our doorstep, so there is no hiding from it. The plagues in Africa will be a problem for the West, just as the Wu-tang fever will be a problem. Both are warnings about what’s coming our way if we remain on the present course. When you build a house of cards, even a gentle breeze is a dire threat. That’s the result of globalism. The small problems on the fringe of civilization become huge problems.

The Lovecast

It has been dark and dreary here in Lagos, so I decided to go a little lighter this week and do a show on Valentine’s Day. The original plan was to just do a segment on it, but it turned out to be a good jumping off point for other related topics. It’s one of those topics that naturally leads to other things related to dissident politics. After all, the whole point of the celebration is to encourage romance, which presumably leads to marriage and baby making, something in short supply in the West.

Like a lot of the topics I do, this is one I could easily do much more on, but I try to stick to the format, which means not getting too deep in the weeds. The history of marriage, for example, could easily be a few hours of time. Plotting marriage patterns in the West from before the Romans to today makes a good case for how the West has been regressing over the last century. It is another one of those areas that suggests our cultural views are growing more primitive.

The marriage topic also underscores just how much of our history has been anathematized by our cultural rulers. The evolution of romance and courting in the medieval period, for example, is something that should be counted as a great innovation of the West and Christianity. It had an enormous impact on the trajectory of the European people. Instead, all we get are harangues about how women are still suffering under the yoke of male supremacy.

The evolution of marriage in Europe is also a great example of how elites can change the culture if they so choose. The prohibitions on consanguinity, for example, altered European society for the better. The Romans then the Church saw the civilizing consequences of banning cousin marriage, even if they did not understand the mechanism behind it. The Occident is not an accident of nature. It is the product of many conscious decisions made over the centuries.

Dear Z Man

Catching up with the correspondence this week, I have to say that the questions made for a good show. I’m not the best judge of these things, but it feels like a good mix of topics to me. I don’t use every question that comes in, as many only require a quick reply, while others are outside my area of interest. One of the first steps to wisdom is confidently saying “I don’t know” when you don’t know something. As I’ve grown older, I say “I don’t know” a lot more than in the past.

It occurred to me while going through the mail that something seems to be changing in the audience for dissident content. The topics are expanding, but also the perspectives on these topics are expanding. It is easy to get blue about the state of things, but there is an undertow pulling more and more people in this direction. Many seem to be showing up without really knowing it. I see this on Gab as well. People are slowly becoming aware of the changes in society and slowly responding.

That’s what shows up in the correspondence. I wish I had a nickel for every time I hear some version of “I just started listening/reading you and …” It could just be a coincidence and maybe I’m suffering from confirmation bias, but I sense that the tides are flowing in our direction. At the minimum, the instinct to signal against dissidents is now waning, as the radicalism of our rulers is on full display. Suddenly, dissidents are the reasonable voice in the room.

I’ve also noticed an increase in the number of e-mails from college domains. Some are students, probably most, but some are staffers too. I think the groyper rebellion on the college campus probably has a lot to do with it. As young people are re-normalized they are thirsty for content aimed at normal white people. They turn up on Gab or find their way here via search results. Both Counter-Currents and AmRen are seeing a steady increase in their traffic, in spite of the censorship.

Now, the black pillers can take solace in the fact that the people in charge are increasingly deranged and still in charge. This apparent good news should not lighten your mood and diminish your melancholy. We remain a subject people, ruled by deranged fanatics, who want us dead. For dissidents, it is vital to always think like an underdog, even when things are going your way. The time to come out of the shadows is when that which casts the shadows is destroyed.

Another thing I’ve noticed is the number of e-mails related to current events has dropped considerably over the last year. I went through the whole backlog this week and not a single mention of Trump, impeachment or any of it. That is encouraging, as it means our side is disengaging from that stuff. That suggests our side is truly on the other side of the divide now. Fewer people are standing on the shore, looking over to the other side, hoping for acknowledgement.

Election Special

One proof that the political class is well aware that their role is to provide theater for the masses is what we see happening with impeachment. The Senate is planning to wrap up the show today. They will have some manufactured drama today, but what will happen is what everyone always knew would happen. The show will close today with a vote to acquit. The actors on the Democrat side will spend the weekend talking about their performances and their next roles, but that’s it.

The reason this show had to end today is the next show has booked the political theater, so the impeachment crew has to clear out. The Democrat primary starts next week with the Iowa caucus. The inner party and their media organs want exclusive access to the audience, so it means closing down impeachment. Bug-eyed Adam Schiff will be given his award, packed off to the loony bin for some rest and the cast of election show will make their debut on Monday.

Unlike impeachment show, which was never allowed to go off script, election show is looking like an improv skit gone terribly wrong. The main star has come down with a very bad case of dementia. His understudy is an elderly Jewish man unaware of the fact the Soviet Union collapsed thirty years ago. The rest of the players look like call backs for a film student’s graduate project. What happens after the show opens next week could be some of the best unintentional comedy of the year.

Aside from the entertainment, there is a good chance this is one of those clarifying events like the 2016 election was for many conservatives. A lot of people moved into dissidents politics when they saw how the so-called conservatives responded to Donald Trump in the primary. Something similar could happen to Progressives when they see their party side with Wall Street to block Sanders. It’s possible the party could literally throw in with a billionaire to stop the Sander’s movement.

A big part of what holds Progressive whites inside the orthodoxy is their belief that they are part of a reformist movement, fighting against vested interests. If their party drops the mask and tries to rig the vote against Sanders or sides with a billionaire like Bloomberg, maintaining that delusion will be impossible for many. Dissidents could suddenly find themselves getting very different questions from their Progressive friends and family over the course of this campaign.

That’s not to say there will be a suddenly revolution on the Left, with white Progressives crossing no man’s land to embrace their brothers on this side. As with Trump, many dead end types will stay on the revolution. In every slave revolt, it is always a minority that does the revolting, while the majority play it safe. Still, it is an intriguing possibility that will offer up opportunities for dissidents. No one knows what will happen when a bunch of white Progressives get red pilled.

January Grab Bag

Because I’m so pressed for time these days, back during the holidays I sat down and wrote out a podcast schedule for the month. I figured impeachment would be a hot topic this week, so I assumed I’d have plenty of impeachment related news items to talk about this week. Instead, everything about this farce is a snoozer. Even the lefty news outlets are struggling to pretend they are enjoying it. Adam Schiff’s big show is a good reason why the Finns have the word myötähäpeä.

The only angle to this thing of any interest to me is the bizarre circling back to the Russian collusion hoax. I think most of us thought the fakers knew the story was fake, but they were hoping to fool people with it. That may be true with some of them, but it seems clear that people like Adam Schiff really do believe this stuff. He thinks the Cossacks are warming up, waiting for Trump to give the signal. He is a deranged lunatic, who belongs in an asylum.

A long time ago I tried to think of a metric one could use to measure the general lunacy of the ruling class of a society. For instance, measure the distance between official truths from actual truths. The greater the distance, the nuttier the people in charge of the society. Think about some of the things that come out of North Korea about the Dear Leader or whatever they are calling the guy now. Compare that to what the Swiss say about their president, for example.

Another possible measure is the amount of propaganda expelled by the ruling class either in volume or intensity. The more they harangue their subjects, the greater the distance between them and reality. The trouble with this approach is we are swimming in made-up nonsense. Spend a little time watching television. The North Koreans install loudspeakers in the town square to blast propaganda. Americans install flat screens in their homes to receive the official truth.

Conceptually, it works, but measuring official insanity is probably best left to general instinct, rather than some money ball approach. Five minutes watching the bug-eyed lunatic on the Senate floor is all you need to know about a significant portion of the American political class. Further, the tolerance of a mentally unstable person in the Congress, tells us the whole lot are beyond saving. In Washington, a kook like Adam Schiff is not out of the ordinary. He is the norm.

Talking To Normie

Continuing my experimental phase, the show this week is about ways to talk to our normie friends and family, in a way that leads them our way. I’ve been around civic nationalists recently and I was reminded of conversations I’ve had with others about how tough it is sometimes for dissidents to address the civic nationalist arguments in a way that brings them our way. This week I thought a show on how to talk to normie in a positive way would be interesting.

I was not sure how I wanted to structure it, so I took some of the things that have come up recently in my normie interactions and made those segment topics. Then I just turned the mic on and started talking about each one, as if I was giving a short lecture to a classroom full of civic nationalist. I was thinking of it like a class on dissident politics for freshmen level students. I wanted it to be accessible to the sorts of people who don’t spend any time on this side of the great divide.

The key thing with talking to our normie friends, family and acquaintances is to not become adversarial. The huge blunder our side makes on social media is to mock these people as if they are enemies. A little bit of that is fine, but fifty people blasting a civic nationalist on Twitter is not winning him over. It’s only hardening his position and making it easier for the gatekeepers to keep him inside. These people are future allies and compatriots, not forever enemies of the cause.

Effective organizing is building lots of on-ramps to this side of the great divide, to make it easier for all sorts of people to come this way. Language that will work on the 2A civic nationalist will not necessarily work on the spergy libertarian. The Sean Hannity watching patriot is going to respond to different rhetoric than the Tucker watching Donald Trump supporter. Dissident politics needs to be like a department store, with something for all the types of white people out there.

This inability to build on ramps is why prior race realists have always failed to gain any traction. They struck people as lunatics. They had one on ramp. You had to pay the lunatic a toll in order to cross over. The now defunct alt-right suffered from the same defect, as it became loaded down with insider jargon and factionalism. All the ways into it were narrow and went passed people that most people would find odd. It’s why they could never break out of their subculture.

It is the heart of the optics debate. If dissident ideas are to gain traction with typical white people, it has to creep up on them like the fog. One day, they just find themselves on this side of the divide, without realizing they made the journey. That happens by having lots of ways here and lots of pleasant sounding people they can trust, subtly pointing them in this direction. That can only work if there are lots of doors through which they can pass into this type of politics.

This week I have the usual variety of items in the now standard format. Spreaker has the full show. I am up on Google Play now, so the Android commies can take me along when out disrespecting the country. I am on iTunes, which means the Apple Nazis can listen to me on their Hitler phones. The anarchists can catch me on iHeart Radio. YouTube also has the full podcast. Of course, there is a download link below.

Union Lessons

This week is one of those times where the topic got away from me and the result was not what I expected. My initial plan was to do four or five segments on topics related to the early union movement. Maybe focus on five people or five notable strikes and then pivot to how they relate to our age. I like the five segment format as it pleases my sense of balance, so I thought five ten minute bits on these topics would work.

Then I started putting together the first segment and things got away from me. I quickly discovered that my own knowledge of the material was inadequate. There were things I had either forgotten or never learned. It was also clear that the topics I picked were bigger than what I can cover in ten minutes. This week’s show is a good example of what happens when you bite off more than you can chew.

Still, I like the topic and I’m going to come back to it. I also like the fact that much of this is forbidden knowledge. The union movement really is a great example of how the usual suspects hose the Left just like they hose the Right. The modern union movement is thoroughly incorporated into cosmopolitan globalism. When was the last time a modern Progressive gave a speech in favor of labor?

The union movement is also a great topic for dissidents, because it breaks that old conditioning most of us labor under, having come out of conservatism. If you were a libertarian or any sort of conservative, you were tuned to hate unions. That sense is still with us, but there is a lot dissidents can learn from the union movement. We face many of the same problems faced by labor a century ago.

The union movement is also a great way to begin thinking about the fact that not all things should be subject to market forces. There are things that are morally right because we believe them to be right on their face. Whether or not they hold up in the marketplace is immaterial. The treatment of our fellow citizens in the workplace is one of those things that should never be left to the marketplace.
