This being Good Friday and Easter weekend, I thought it would be wise to go with some subdued musical selections. I must admit that using Black Sabbath did cross my mind, but I know I have a fair number of religious listeners and readers. That and this is one of the times of year I miss going to mass. As I get older I appreciate ritual more, of course, but I always liked Easter services. It just felt like there was a sense of expectation.

A German I follow on twitter mentioned French baroque music the other day, and the fact that it is nowhere near as popular as German baroque. The sad fact is, French culture is just not very popular anywhere these days. It’s a pity, but the exchange got me listening to some French baroque this week. I’ve decided to use it in the podcast, as it reminds me of church. I’m sure following this, French baroque will become the rage in Europe.

When I was kid, I would watch a show called Connections. Even as a boy, I favored serendipity and chance as the most interesting historical forces. I also loved how he would pull all of these seemingly unrelated bits together into a single theme. That’s still with me and I struggle each week to do the same with the podcast. This week I may have stumbled onto a solution. Tying things together musically, rather than thematically may be the ticket.

One of the things I do with the blog is start with a subject line. Whatever happens to be on my mind at the time I start, I form a subject line and then write to it. I find it makes for quick work, usually about 30 minutes per post. For the podcast, I’m going to start with a musical genre or maybe a band and then keep that in mind as I select topics. Doing that this week made quick work of the process. I also like the result very much. This is a good show.

Some weeks, putting together this podcast is a pleasure. The topics are easy and the process is smooth. Other weeks, it is a grind. This week it was a grind. This is not my full-time job, so events can conspire against me. That’s to be expected. Some weeks, the material is the problem. That was an issue this week. The news was either depressing or dull and I just could not come up with alternative material that I found interesting.

Put the two together and it was pushing a rock up a hill. Every segment took longer than it should and the result was something less than inspiring. That’s why we have five short segments and three long ones this week. I was tempted to just throw in the towel and skip this week, but there’s something to be learned from struggle. You learn some things about yourself or the process that you would not learn otherwise. That and life is struggle.

Every man has his foibles and one of mine is a love of symmetry and continuity. I like when things fit a pattern and I like when things fit together. I spent a lot of time as kid watching the tide come in and the tide go out. The beauty of it has always stuck with me. Little waves inside of larger waves inside the great cycle of the tides. There is an order to universe and there should be order in our work. Orderliness is next to godliness.

It pleases me greatly that this show fits neatly around one theme. Granted, it is a very general theme, but the universe is a very general place. Even finding a small bit of order, in the most general way, means I have found oneness with the universe. It will not bring order to your life, or bring sanity to the word around us, but this podcast has a unifying theme and that makes me happy. Small victories are the bread of life.

Everyone is vexed with me for bailing on Trump. It is perfectly understandable. Sensible white Americans have been conditioned to defend their guy against all attacks. It’s how we ended up with the thoroughly rotten George Bush and his neocon henchmen. Everyone was so busy defending Bush from the liberal loonies, no one noticed that he was actually worse than the liberal loonies. It is probably a lesson the American honky will never learn.

This week’s show is T-rated. That means it covers taboo subjects that may not be appropriate for all audiences. Listener discretion advised. That means I’m tackling one of the most taboo subjects in our age and that is the JQ. Specifically, I’m breaking down the alt-right argument with regards to Jews in America. Since I want to be fair and it is a big subject, this episode is twice the normal length. Think of it like a double album.

The reason for getting into this is a debate I saw between Mike Enoch of The Right Stuff and a person calling himself Halsey English. The debate itself was terrible, but it got me thinking about the arguments these guys make about Jews and white identity. In fairness to them, I had never seriously thought about their arguments, so I thought I should and that’s why it is in this week’s podcast. I look forward to correction if I made any mistakes.

It is a bit of slow news week, so this week I went hunting around for odd stuff I find interesting. There’s always news to discuss, but not all of it interests me. I can only follow politics for so long, before I’m overcome with dark thoughts. The big story, as I go to post is the Florida shooting, but those stories are always the same. The lunatic slipped through the system, people wonder how it happened, the usual suspect say the same things they said the last time. It’s a terrible thing, but there’s nothing to be done about it.

I’m also of the mind that we have plenty of people doing topical stuff. John Derbyshire does a one hour podcast on the news from a Dissident Right perspective. Fash the Nation does several hours each week on the news from an alt-right perspective. Then you have all of the YouTubers and periscope doing news stuff. I’m probably better off sticking to the topics that strike my fancy, even if they don’t fit neatly into a thematic show each week.

I’m back in Lagos so this episode was recorded in my state of the art studio, which is my bedroom and a $200 microphone. I got a lot of feedback from friends about the podcast last week. They had plenty of suggestions, but everyone says the sound quality is perfect the way it is and I should not change a thing. It’s a good reminder that good enough is usually good enough. It’s easy to lose sight of that, because we always think we can be better. It’s human nature. Genius is knowing when to stop.

Of course, friends are unlikely to criticize, but my friends are jerks so they would never hesitate to tell me I suck. Their suggestions, therefore, meant a lot. They tell me I have a good thing going and I should make some effort to promote myself and monetize my act. They had suggestions on both fronts. I’m not comfortable with either of those things, but maybe I’m wrong about it. I thought this podcast would be a fun gag, but I’d stink at it and get bored. I’m getting better and I’m enjoying it. Still, I need to mull it over.

This is a road trip podcast. I’ve been on the road and I remain on the road through the weekend. As this goes up, I’m in Boston. That means I recorded this in bits and pieces as I had time. It also means I did so in odd places, like police stations, cemeteries and sorority houses. Usually, I put this together later in the week, trying to include at least one news item, but this week, I had to get things done earlier than normal. It has been pre-recorded for your future listening pleasure. Take that space-time continuum!

I’ve come down with a case of Ebola this week. It is running rampant in Lagos on the Chesapeake. I rarely get sick, but I’ve got it this time. If my voice sounds a bit odd, that’s probably the reason. There’s also the fact that I’ve not had a lot of energy so I was not enthusiastic about cleaning up the audio. That is a tedious task, made infinitely more tedious when fighting off the monkey virus. But, I take pride in never letting poor health keep me from work, so I pushed through it. Like Hitler, I suffer for my art.

I have a fancy new graphic for these posts. I hated the way my posts look on Gab, so I’ve been fiddling around with Adobe to create some graphics that look decent on social media, but don’t clutter up the site. I’m a minimalist, as should be obvious. I think too much is too much. My friends tell me I should have been Amish. I don’t disagree. Even so, a good blog should feature good content, not endless scripts and overly produced graphics. Blogs are for reading.

Anyway, a couple of administrative notes. I will be traveling next week, so I don’t know if I will have time for a podcast. We’ll see. I may do something in advance that is not topical so I can put it up on the fly. I have signed up American Renaissance again this year. Registration is here.
