The Forecast Podcast

This is the first show of the year. One day, maybe 365 days from now, we will look back on this with 2020 hindsight. This is the where the crowd starts to groan. Anyway, I’m happy to see the holidays end. It has been a weird few weeks with Christmas falling on a Wednesday this year. It was like having two five-day weekends in a row. Since not everyone took the same half of the week off, it was just two strange weeks. I’m looking forward to getting back to the normal routine starting next week.

My original plan for this week was to do a deep dive on a longer subject, but I got going on the book project and that took up most of my spare time. I’ve mentioned this before, but instead of just taking a bunch of posts and creating a book of greatest hits, I’m producing all new material. I’m also trying my hand at longer form writing. I’ve never done long essays, as I don’t think they work very well in the blog format. Blog readers want short column-length stuff they can consume quickly.

The thing with long form writing, at least in my opinion, is it has to be consumable in smaller bites. The modern audience has a shorter attention span and they expect a payoff within a thousand words or so. That means long form writing needs to be more like an assembly of short essays that are tightly connected. That way, the typical reader can consume some of it, put it aside and then easily pick up where he left off at some later point in the day. Otherwise, they will quit and never come back.

Obviously, a big part of this is due to the internet. In a world where people are communicating via short text messages on their mobile or on a social media platform, no one should be verbose. I think it is also due to being bombarded with media. All around us we are inundated with messages from ad makers, the clerisy and the state. All of it is designed to trick us into thinking the right thoughts. As a result, getting to the point without a lot of artifice is what people prize in writing.

Anyway, I’ve finally settled on how I want to do longer form stuff, so I invested time in the project over the holidays. I had a head of steam going, so I did not want to stop to do a deep-dive type of podcast. I was going to skip the show entirely, but then someone suggested I should have done a podcast on the predictions stuff. That made a lot of sense, so that’s what I have this week. Too bad I don’t do video, as I could have dressed up as a fortune teller for this episode.

This week I have the usual variety of items in the now standard format. Spreaker has the full show. I am up on Google Play now, so the Android commies can take me along when out disrespecting the country. I am on iTunes, which means the Apple Nazis can listen to me on their Hitler phones. The anarchists can catch me on iHeart Radio. YouTube also has the full podcast. Of course, there is a download link below.

Year End Correspondence

This will be the last show of the year. This is one of the slowest times of the year for site traffic and show listening. Unlike the filthy degenerates on the other side, our people are out and about with family and friends this time of year. It’s also a good time for me to do some hardware upgrades I’ve been planning. The day job is a bit slower this time of year, so I take the time to clean up lingering items on the list. Normal production will resume after the New Year.

I’m taking the opportunity to knock one thing off the list and that is to catch up on all outstanding correspondence. All the stuff I wanted to use in the show has been used and I only have a few items left in the inbox. One of the things on my next year list is to come up with a better system for handling correspondence. I let this stuff build up and then it is a gargantuan task. I wind up responding to people weeks and maybe months after they sent their initial e-mail. I need a better system.

This is also the time of year when people think about personal goals and projects for the coming year. I’m no different. I’m not into resolutions, but I use this time of year to think about what I can do to make the coming year a little better. In the past, this has been when I have plotted career changes and moving. This year I will be thinking about the latter, as my time here in Lagos is coming to a close. I’m not sure where I will be heading, but I will be looking for less colorful environs.

That is, of course, something we have to consider when moving. It’s not just the diversity at the moment, but the possibility of diversity in the future. These days, whole towns are destroyed by developers, building garbage housing and then adding “affordable housing” to please the local pols. Your nice little town can quickly become a sterile development full of strangers, with a dollop of diversity. All of us are being forced to plan defensively in our careers and our living spaces.

Of course, if any of the anti-white bigots on stage last night at the Democrat debate win in 2020, there will be no place to hide. As we’re seeing in Virginia, the pogroms will begin as soon as they are in office. I had originally thought about moving back to Virginia, but the madness going on there now eliminates the Old Dominion from my list of places to live. The way things are headed, I’m going to end up as Jeremiah Johnson, living up above the tree line to avoid the madness.

Ben Shapiro

As a change of pace, I decided to smash Ben Shapiro! Destroy Ben Shapiro! Obliterate Ben Shapiro! I was going to use one of those lines for the title, since he loves using the “Be Shapiro Destroys” line so much, but I thought better of it. Even though I barely use YouTube, I figured such titles would now be a violation of their rules. From what I gather, you are no longer permitted to say disparaging things about their people or anyone favored by their people, so I went with the simple title.

In all seriousness, I have been going to school on Shapiro over the last month or so, in order to come to a better understanding of his act. I realized while watching him attack Nick Fuentes that I did not understand the appeal of Shapiro. Since he has come to my attention, he has struck me as a very weird little guy. He often sounds like he is on helium and his rat-a-tat-tat speaking style is jarring. Yet, he has a big audience and can draw a big crowd to his speeches, so I’m missing something.

Part of his appeal, of course, is simply that he has wealthy backers. The music industry has been creating stars for generations, because they decide who gets on the big platforms and who is promoted to the market. Every generation has boy bands, because the music industry creates them for each generation. In this regard, Shapiro is like a boy band. Wealthy donors decided he was going to be a star. As a result, he gets promoted to normie whites as the voice of his generation.

Another part of his success is he does not try very hard to be unique. Read his earlier books and it is just stripped down, boiler plate conservative rhetoric. There is little effort to gussy it up with his own style. It’s like the generic version of the stuff Ann Coulter, Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity used to sell in the 2000’s. Maybe another way to state it is his style is the bum wine of civic nationalism. There’s no pretending about the point of the product and the reason the user is consuming it.

My main take-away from doing a deep dive into the mind of Ben Shapiro is that he is less of a grifter than I expected. He really believes this stuff. He is a Jewish nationalist, a Zionist, in the truest sense of the term. It’s not just the civic nationalist support of Israel that is common with right-wing grifters. He is really and truly committed to his people and the land of Israel. I would not be surprised that after making enough money, he picks up the family and moves to Israel one day.

The other thing I was surprised to see is his narrowness. He is a smart guy and he has been exposed to the finest education available in America. Yet, that has not broadened his outlook or given him any perspective on his own life. Reading Ben Shapiro, you get the sense that he views learning as a means to an end. Knowledge is about its utility in advancing what he sees as his interests. In terms of philosophical outlook, Shapiro is the same guy he was when he was in high school.

That is, of course, the down side of extreme ethnocentrism. His loyalty to his people is so intense, he lacks the ability to see himself and them objectively. His lack of self-awareness is breathtaking at times. That’s how he makes points on behalf of Israel, for example, regarding ethno-nationalism, without noticing how they would apply to the rest of the world. His focus on his main interests is so intense, the rest of the world is just a hazy set of images that never come into clear view for him.

All of that said, his latest book is worth reading, mostly because it provides an insight into the people that decorate the stages of Conservative Inc. For dissidents, these people are often just two-dimensional objects to scorn. For the fans, they are a mirror that claps, while telling them everything will be okay. Reading his book, I came away with a better understanding of the man. I also came to fuller understanding of why I disagree with him and why he and I are on opposing sides.

The Freak Show

I was a little stumped on what to do with the show this week, so I figured something on current events might work. My day job keeps me busy this time of year, so I am pressed for time. A “review of and comment upon the news” type of show is easy to put together compared to some of the other stuff I like to do. I just need to find a handful of news items that are interesting to me. The show writes itself. I have not been following the news much lately, so it meant scanning the main news sites.

I’ve made this point about cutting the cord, but it applies to following current events as well. When you step away from this stuff for a while, coming back feels like you are entering a strange new world. Like Hollywood, the people engaged in politics have always been weird and alien. When you see it every day it is a familiar weirdness that you just accept. Go away for a while then come back to it and you see that our ruling class is foreign and deranged.

A great example of the strangeness is this video from yesterday. I first saw it on Tucker after I put the show together. My goodness. Look at those eyes. That’s the result of lots of pills washed down by lots of chardonnay. If that face popped out of the darkness, you would die of fright. Then there are the facial tics. I kept waiting for smoke to start coming out of her and then her face to fall off. Those ticks reminded me of this scene from the old Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.

The thing that keeps coming to my mind is that there was a meeting in Pelosi’s office discussing this ridiculous stunt. The heads of the mass media operations, her staff and assorted party operatives all decided that was a good plan. Sending that dilapidated old bag out to slur through that speech was their plan. Maybe they are stuck with her, but who in their right mind would sign off on that speech? The greatest thespian on earth could not perform those lines without making the audience wince.

Speaking of Tucker Carlson, he did a segment last night on this story about Conservative Inc. taking bribes to peddle opioids. The story itself is shocking for its cravenness, even to cynics on our side of the great divide. American Enterprise was trying to kill white people, for just a few grand a year from Purdue Pharma. It really goes to the heart of things. These freaks and weirdos ruling over us hate us. They hate us so much they will partner with a mass murderer to poison us.

Dear Black Friday

One of the little known truths about dissident politics is in order to get paid for a holiday, you have to work the day before and the day after. That sounds pretty rough, but you do get paid time and a half if the the holiday has the word “black” in it. That means a Black Friday edition of the Power Hour. The hardest working man in dissident show biz is not going to miss an opportunity to remind everyone of that fact.

This time of year is actually the slowest time of the year for site traffic. I think it holds for listening, but the metrics I have are not very reliable. The Spreaker numbers are not very accurate and the other platforms don’t have any measures. My guess though is the podcast audience shrinks along with the site traffic. People into this stuff have jobs and this is a busy time for the employed. Lots to do before take time off.

Given that this is the time of the year when American give thanks and think about their good fortune, a letters episode seems appropriate. I’m also now fully caught up on all correspondence for the first time in a long time. I have a few items left over, but those are outside the normal mailbag. Otherwise, the inbox is clean, the nail bag is empty and the secret e-mail account is also clean. For that I am thankful.

After the last one of these, someone asked how I pick the questions to use. The simple answer is I use those that I think are interesting. Questions about myself or about general politics are not all that interesting to people. Questions about subjects I don’t cover in the blog are much more interesting to me, so I assume they will be interesting to the audience. I could be wrong, but that’s the method to the madness.

Since I know everyone will be out donating their savings to globohomo today, you can now do so to the sound of my voice. I will not be partaking in Black Friday. Here in Lagos, every day is black Friday. I will be working around the house on some chores I have been saving for the long weekend. Arbeit macht frei. I’m also working on the book this weekend, trying to get that project off the ground finally.

I’m also now on something called Deezer, which I am told is more popular than Spotify, which banned me last year. I looked up the respective audiences and Deezer does appear to have a bigger audience, even though I’ve never heard of it. My guess is it caters to a European audience, but I’m just going off the fact that it is based in Europe and run by Europeans. Regardless, it is another option for you.

Marketism

Last summer, I was asked to do a presentation to an industry group on the topic of technology and small business in America. The question was how can small and mid-sized business compete with and cooperate with the tech giants. I suspect they expected a dozy talk on how best to use LinkedIn and Facebook to attract new clients, but instead I gave a speech on how these companies need to be destroyed. If we are to avoid techno-feudalism, Silicon Valley must be wiped from the earth.

The funny thing I noticed is the older more right-wing people were uncomfortable with this sort of talk, even if the facts made sense to them. The older left-wing types were taken back by such talk. The Left in America is fully incorporated now, an extension of the human resource and training departments of global capital. The most receptive to what I was saying were the younger people. They asked a lot of good questions, suggesting they have been wrestling with this reality as well.

Last weekend, I was at an AIM meet-up. Jared Taylor, James Kirkpatrick (buy his book) and Patrick Casey were there as well. Jared gave a talk on the dangers of picking the wrong enemies. One of the wrong enemies, according to Jared, was capitalism. He gave a fiery defense of market capitalism. One of the things I noticed is that the young guys were not really buying it. Everyone loves and respects Jared, so they were polite and respectful, but I could not help but notice the skepticism.

Now, Jared is a man of his time. He remembers the 1970’s and he remembers living in Japan as the country turned the corner from post-war depression to economic powerhouse in the 1980’s. Young people inherited the product of market economics, so they take it for granted. At the same time though, they inherited the consequences of marketism. The broken homes, the busted communities, the sterile suburbs, young women throwing their lives away on feminism. That’s their frame of reference.

I thought it would make a good topic to cover in the podcast this week, especially as we head into the holy season of marketism. It is one of those topics that I think is useful in reintroducing the types of topics that must be the focus of any cultural movement. One consequence of marketism is that those naturally inclined to right-wing politics are no longer comfortable speaking about culture. Instead, everything is framed in the sterile terms of market capitalism. We’ve lost the cultural language.

Libertarian Bashing

Watching the kids savage the shills of TP-USA this week, put me in the mood to lash out at the libertarians. It is easy to forget that what is currently called the conservative movement is really just left-libertarianism. On the one hand, it is shilling for global business, open borders and post-nationalism. On the other hand, it is the left-wing war on western culture. Other than some vestigial references to religion and traditional values, there’s no difference between conservatism and libertarianism now.

I know a lot of old school libertarians think that their thing has been hijacked by infidels and that real libertarianism can be compatible with the dissident right. The trouble with that is they need to explain how their thing was so easily taken over by the left-wing degenerates that now dominate the racket. Again, the same critique applies here as to Buckley-style conservatism. The reason these 20th century responses to the Left failed is they all contained a fatal flaw that allowed them to be co-opted.

Now, there is a case to be made that the undoing of libertarianism was its associating with Buckley-style politics. The great paleo thinker Sam Francis observed that the Buckleyites would inevitably be absorbed into the managerial state, as they were engaging in politics on Progressive terms. In order to gain a place on stage, they were forced to accept the basic premise of Progressive politics. That is, they had to embrace the blank slate and egalitarianism. That could only lead one way.

Perhaps that is so, but it does not change the fact that libertarianism is now one of the heads of the monster. You see that in their response to dissident politics. They immediately drop the mask and begin howling left-wing talking points. The response from them to the groyper rebellion is a perfect example. You see the same hysterics and name calling that you see from the Left. It is a good reminder that these people are just part of the candy coating of the Progressive nut inside.

The Organization Man

One of the funny things about doing what I do here is that I often stumble onto things that get no play in the press, but are on people’s minds. I’ll write about a topic that interests me, but is not in the news, and it will get a ton of comments and links back from people passing it around. Our side of the great divide tends to have a different focus than what you see in the above ground world, but not always. Sometimes, the stuff on our mind at the moment, regarding current events, is on their minds too.

The topic of last week’s podcast is a good example. I did not think it would be all that interesting to people, but I was wrong. I got a lot of long e-mails from people about what they are doing in their community. I’ve also seen postings in the so-called conservative media about the topic this week. It turns out that a lot of people are thinking about how and why they should be joining and building local communities, where the likeminded can socialize and talk about this stuff.

Thinking about it, I suspect the reason is lots of people are looking around at what’s happening and coming the conclusion that the wheels are coming off the cart. What’s happening in Washington is an insurrection. The normal order is no longer respected by the people who are supposed to maintain order. Instead, the political establishment is in open rebellion against the very laws that make it possible for them to be an establishment. How many clicks before there are tanks in the streets?

It’s not just Washington. That story of the Mormon group getting ambushed over the border resonates with people. It would be one thing if they were in the Congo or down near the isthmus. That’s far away and people can imagine it is savage. The border is their backyard, literally and figuratively. People can imagine that spilling into their towns and neighborhoods. Not only is our government doing nothing about it, the establishment celebrates it. Their indifference is breathtaking.

At various times in my life I have been in situations where things go sideways and the normal order breaks down. The white people, for reasons they never consider, just show up where they think they need to show up, ready to take direction, lend a hand to restoring order and helping those who need help. It is our nature and why civilization exists in the first place. That is maybe what we are seeing. The collapse of normal order is getting people to seek out their neighbors and start figuring out what to do.

I’m not in the camp that thinks there will be a sudden collapse and we will be thrown into a war of all against all. Instead, I think decline is like an uneven staircase, where society takes small imperceptible steps down, then a big step or two and then some more little steps again. Just as progress is fits and starts, regress is fits and starts too. We could be about to hit one of the bigger steps. A year from now, the current year will feel like a foreign country. There is nowhere to go but down.

The White Shadows

I’ve gotten some negative feedback of late about the fact I sound too scripted and spend too much time reading news stories. I think both are related, as I don’t use a script when I do this. I just make some notes and, of course, read the passages of news items I’m doing. Of course, if I’m reading too much copy then I will sound scripted, so that would be why I may sound too scripted. It is one of those things I did not notice until someone pointed it out to me. I have been reading a lot more than commenting.

It is always best to respond to criticism by swinging wildly in the opposite direction, so that is what I’m doing this week. There will be no reading aloud in the show. Not only that, I did not even make notes to remind me of the things I wanted to say in each segment. It’s all off the top of the head in one take. The only prep is I came up with five topics for the show. Otherwise, it is just me talking about the topics as it comes to me for an hour. Even the closing has more me than usual.

Now, I like to mix things up, which is probably not a good thing with this type of content, as people prefer regularity. Someone finds the show, they like it and expect more of the same each week. Variety is the spice of life, not the staple of life. That said, I do what I enjoy and I like variety, which means trying new things and testing out ideas that I think could be fun. This week is a show on dissident organizing, which is pretty far outside my normal content. Just call me Zee Alinsky now.

The reason for this is the topic keeps getting raised by people I meet at various dissident events, like the one I was at last week. It comes up in my e-mail every time I write about an event. There are a lot of people who would like to connect with local people of their kidney to form a social group. There is a great unmet demand for community among our people, but organic, grassroots organizing from the Right is not something you can just buy a book and learn to do.

This week’s show is not intended to be the final word on organizing, but rather a starting point on the topic. The one thing we have going for us is a lot of creative, bright people willing to tackle tough questions. The more these topics are discussed by people with an audience, the more our smart people will think about them. Eventually, the answers bubble to the surface. That and it spreads the word that there are lots of people all over who want to belong to a dissident group in their area.

Autumn World Tour

Every once in a while, I like to do a show on world events, not so much because those events are interesting, but because they are illuminating. We tend to get wrapped up in our politics and lose perspective on things. It’s only natural. We care about the stuff close to home, so we get emotionally evolved. Events abroad, however, have no emotional resonance, so we can look at them with a clear eye. That means we can see the salient points, without all the emotional baggage.

The Brexit story is probably the best example of this. Talk to a Brit and they have strong opinions about what is going on with their government. Those opinions run counter to what you see from their news, which is something all of us can understand. For most Brits leaving the EU is a symbolic issue. It is not about the facts of leaving the EU so much as what it would represent in the culture war. Like the battle of immigration in the US, each side of Brexit has emotional reasons for their position.

The self-abnegating side wants to remain so they can disappear into the nothingness of Europe, but most important, stick it to the other side. Like all leftist politics, it is just a pose. For the other side, it is about regaining their national identity. The trouble is, none of that really matters. What Brexit is really about is the rotten ruling class of Britain. These people hate the people over whom they rule and they take pleasure in defying them. The people stalling Brexit are doing it mostly out of spite.

From an American perspective, this is blazingly obvious. We look at a Jeremy Corbyn and wonder how such a grotesque character came to lead one of the parties. More important, how is it that he can walk around promising to sell out his fellow people, as if he is the head of a foreign army. Further, how can the Tories tolerate people in the party who are actively and unashamedly trying to subvert their party? From the perspective of an outsider, this whole Brexit show says England needs a rebellion, not Brexit.

Of course, this is true on America, maybe more so. It’s when you look at something like the Brexit story that you start to think about what is happening in America with the same detached perspective. To Europeans, what is going on in the Imperial Capital with our rulers looks like madness. There’s also the added fact that our rulers have control of the world’s most potent military and a nuclear arsenal. If you can imagine Jeremy Corbyn with a nuke, you know how the world feels about America right now.
